BAKU. Azerbaijan. August 25. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan thanked President Ilham Aliyev for sending an amphibious aircraft to fight fires in Türkiye, TurkicWorld reports.
"I would like to express my deep gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. With the help of this aircraft we were able to cope with the fires very effectively," he said in his speech after the Cabinet meeting.
Erdogan added that the number of forest fires in Türkiye has increased by 53 percent to 5,540.
"27 aircraft, 105 helicopters and more than 5,000 ground vehicles are involved in extinguishing the fires. From August 15 to 19, 306 forest fires were registered. The relevant ministers are constantly on site and I receive information from them regularly."
Upon the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, the BE-200CS amphibious aircraft of the aviation unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was sent to fight severe forest fires in Türkiye.
