Organization of Turkic States to become important regional association - Kyrgyz president

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 3.The Organization of Turkic States will become an important regional association, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said at the 10th Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana, TurkicWorld reports.

"The Summit is taking place in a difficult period of world crises and changes that require joint efforts to overcome them. In this regard, the Organization should further promote and develop cooperation between the countries on the basis of the adopted strategic documents "Vision of the Turkic World - 2040" and the five-year "Strategy of the Organization of Turkic States". Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to the development of multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the Organization, especially given that the goals and priorities for the development of Turkic cooperation are generally in line with the economic policy pursued in the Kyrgyz Republic. I believe it is important for our Turkic countries to join efforts to build economic potential and move towards sustainable development," he said.

The 10th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the OTS has started today in Astana.

Within the meeting international documents in the fields of emergency response and metrology are expected to be signed. In addition, the Astana Act and the Declaration of the Astana Summit will be signed, as will a cooperative action plan for the implementation of the OTS transport communication program.

Furthermore, Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the OTS will be transferred to Kazakhstan.

This year, Uzbekistan chairs the Organization of Turkic States. The beginning of the chairmanship was marked by the OTS Summit in Samarkand, held under the slogan “A new era of Turkic civilization: on the way to common development and prosperity” in November last year.
