BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. On April 9, 2026, an international scientific conference titled “The Role and Significance of Amir Temur and the Timurid Civilization in World History and Culture” commenced its work at the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent. The event is being held within the framework of the implementation of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the wide celebration of the 690th anniversary of the birth of Amir Temur, TurkicWorld reports.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova, expressed confidence that this high-level event would serve as an important platform for expanding academic dialogue, promoting cultural exchange, and strengthening humanitarian ties among nations.
The President of the Foundation noted that the organization carries out systematic activities aimed at preserving, studying, and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic world at the international level. In her speech, Professor A. Raimkulova emphasized that Uzbekistan’s accession to the Foundation as a full member, as well as Turkmenistan’s acquisition of observer status, have significantly expanded the organization’s opportunities.
Highlighting that the conference would open new prospects for scientific cooperation in the study and preservation of Amir Temur’s legacy, she expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for its continued support in researching the shared heritage of the Turkic world.
The conference brings together around 300 scholars, experts, diplomats, and media representatives from various countries.
During the event, participants paid tribute to the memory of Amir Temur by laying flowers at his monument.
As a result of the conference, important scientific recommendations and joint initiatives will be developed, aimed at the in-depth study and broad international promotion of the Timurid heritage.
