BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. On July 22, 2025, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the traditional Vagif Poetry Days in Shusha, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Union of Azerbaijani Writers, TurkicWorld reports.
The event was attended by the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha District, Mr. Aydin Karimov, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Mr. Adil Karimli, representatives of state and governmental structures, prominent figures of science and culture, representatives of literature and art, as well as notable public figures.
Speaking at the opening of the “Vagif Poetry Days,” which reflect the spirit of the city of Shusha, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova emphasized the significance of the event, which has become a celebration of word, art, and spirituality on this sacred land. She spoke about the Foundation’s projects aimed at popularizing prominent personalities of the Turkic world, architecture, and tangible and intangible heritage, and about published editions, noting that the initiatives carried out to preserve the cultural heritage of the city of Shusha and pass it on to future generations contribute to the preservation of a common Turkic identity and its promotion on the international stage.
Continuing her speech, the President of the Foundation expressed her wish that music would always be heard on this land, that the word would live, and that culture would flourish. At the end of her speech, she congratulated all media representatives on the 150th anniversary of Azerbaijani media and wished them success in their professional activities.
At the opening ceremony, speeches were also delivered by the Chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers, People’s Writer Anar, Director of the Atatürk Center in Azerbaijan Mr. Nizami Jafarov, and Candidate of Philological Sciences, writer Mr. Ramil Ahmed, who emphasized the importance of the event.
After the speeches, the winners of the essay contest “Letter to Vagif” were awarded.
Then, the composition “The Word in Sound” and the project “The Word of Heroes,” dedicated to Molla Panah Vagif, were presented by students of the Faculty of Arts of Karabakh University.
