Within the framework of participation in the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov visited the national pavilion under the general theme “Kyrgyzstan: Sustainable Mountain Development”.
The pavilion, which is open to the public until Nov.21, will host daily presentations with the participation of ministries and agencies of the country on topical issues of the climate agenda, energy, trade and economic, tourism and investment potential of Kyrgyzstan, as well as cultural events, exhibitions of national mountain products (honey, dried fruits, national drinks, etc.) and tastings, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said.
The national pavilion became a destination for international COP29 participants, demonstrating Kyrgyzstan's leadership role in promoting mountain issues and sustainable development. The unique concept with a central element - a traditional yurt - symbolizes the connection with nature and harmony at the heart of Kyrgyzstan's culture.
The pavilion is not only a presentation platform, but also a space for negotiations and strengthening international cooperation on the climate agenda.
The Kyrgyz leader emphasized the importance of Kyrgyzstan's participation in COP29 and noted that the national pavilion reflects the country's wealth and identity, as well as its commitment to sustainable development of mountain regions.
“We show the world that Kyrgyzstan is not only actively involved in addressing global climate challenges, but is also ready to share its experience and knowledge in the conservation of mountain ecosystems. Our heritage, symbolized by the yurt, should inspire everyone to preserve nature and strengthen the sustainability of mountain communities,” said Sadyr Zhaparov.
