KAZAN, Russia, October 24. Belarus is ready to become an active member of BRICS, the country's President Alexander Lukashenko said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Russia's Kazan today, TurkicWorld reports.
"BRICS member nations possess the potential to confer substantial influence on the progressive global majority. We completely endorse the ideology of BRICS. Belarus presents tangible concepts and initiatives designed to tackle global issues. We are prepared to actively engage in the association. Belarus has historically been a reliable and efficient partner.
Our central geographical position in Europe, along with our expertise and accomplishments, enables us to state with confidence that Belarus will play a significant role in the organization's future," the president stated.
According to him, BRICS is a community of the future.
"In such a world order, where equality of sovereign states is ensured regardless of their size, military, and economic power, the right of each state to independently determine its development path and conduct an independent foreign policy is recognized.
"Because of its potential, it can bring about the end of the era of dominance of the collective West, which has failed to take responsibility for the civilized development of international relations," Lukashenko explained.
The president added that Belarus's participation expands the boundaries of possibilities for the BRICS association, making it more universal and comprehensive.
