BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 14. A recent meeting was held with the Azerbaijani community in Singapore, organized by the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora of Azerbaijan, TurkicWorld reports via the state committee.
The event commenced with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Singapore, followed by a moment of silence to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of the country.
"Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov noted that President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the diaspora policy, the foundation of which was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The meeting covered the committee's activities, including the Houses of Azerbaijan, coordination councils, Sunday schools abroad, summer camps for diaspora youth, and other significant projects.
A video showcasing the work of the Azerbaijani diaspora and Azerbaijan's victory in Karabakh was presented.
Participants, including Azerbaijani businessmen, students, and compatriots working in various fields, expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for organizing this inaugural meeting of the community in Singapore.
Laman Bagheri, a native of Azerbaijan’s Ganja, left her homeland at the age of 20 and has spent the past 31 years in Singapore. During her recent visit to Baku last year, she was impressed by the country’s progress and development. She also expressed her desire to reclaim her citizenship and return to Azerbaijan.
The daughter of the prominent Azerbaijani oncologist Professor Mammad Aliyev, Farah Movsumova, emphasized her appreciation for the numerous projects aimed at helping Azerbaijanis abroad maintain their language and national identity.
The event included a constructive exchange of ideas, with participation from the Azerbaijani consul in Singapore and Indonesia. Coordinators for the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in Southeast Asia were elected based on proposals from diaspora representatives.
The meeting concluded with a performance by the Karabakh Mugham group, led by People's Artist of Azerbaijan Mansum Ibrahimov," the committee said in a statement.
