Azerbaijan and Finland evaluate possible landmine solutions

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Republic Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Bahruz Mammadov held a meeting with a delegation headed by former Finnish Defense Minister Jan-Erik Enestam, TurkicWorld reports via ANAMA.

The meeting covered a lot of ground, including the severity of the mine problem in Azerbaijan, the areas mined by Armenians without following military protocol, the contamination of civilian areas, and the locations of mines and booby traps along the former contact line. The delegation was also briefed on the demining efforts in our country and the large-scale humanitarian operations to remove mine hazards.

Enestam expressed gratitude for the information provided, noting that Azerbaijan's achievements in combating the mine threat are praiseworthy and that the report to be prepared based on the data provided during the visit to Azerbaijan will be submitted to the relevant structures in Finland.

Mammadov emphasized the importance of expanding international partnerships and providing support towards overcoming the mine problem faced by the country.

Furthermore, it was noted that the meeting was organized by the "Finland-Azerbaijan Friendship Society" based on an appeal sent to the State Committee for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
