BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 14. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on October 14.
According to the Azerbaijani Presidential Press Service, the meeting took place during the Uzbek leader's working visit to Azerbaijan.
President Mirziyoyev arrived in Baku at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev to participate in the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), scheduled for October 15.
The summit, hosted under Azerbaijan's chairmanship, will focus on strengthening mutual trust, regional security and cooperation among Asian countries.
The event's agenda also includes transport connectivity, digitalization, sustainable economic development and key regional and international issues.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan maintain close diplomatic relations and a strategic alliance, with cooperation covering economic development, energy, agriculture and other sectors.
The Azerbaijani Presidential Press Service confirmed the October 14 meeting but did not provide further details about the discussions in its initial announcement.
