BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 8. The "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Security between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement," signed in Baku on October 11, 2024, has been approved, TurkicWorld reports.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the relevant decree in this regard.
Upon the MoU’s entry into force, the President-Designate of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the 19th session of the meeting of the parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and the 6th session of the meeting of the parties to the Paris Agreement will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of its provisions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is tasked with notifying the secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement about the completion of the necessary domestic procedures for the MoU to come into effect.
