Delegation of Kyrgyzstan participates in 2023 UN Water Conference in New York

Kabar. The delegation of Kyrgyzstan, consisting of representatives of the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, is taking part in the work of the UN Conference on Water Resources 2023, which takes place on March 22-24 this year at the UN headquarters in New York.

On March 22, within the framework of the Conference, Kyrgyzstan, together with Italy, UNESCO, the Mountain Partnership, UN-Water and the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, held a side event on the topic: “Partnership and cooperation in the field of water resources: the main conclusions of the UN Report 2023 year on the state of world water resources and the experience of countries”.

During this side event, Foreign Ministry spokesman Anvar Anarbaev made a relevant statement. In his speech, Anarbaev indicated that Kyrgyzstan always stands for cooperation and believes that issues of the use of water resources can and should be resolved only through an open and constructive dialogue with mutual consideration of the interests of states.

The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic also noted that the recognition and calculation of the value of water resources, its consideration in decision-making is extremely important for the management of water resources in a sustainable and equitable manner.

The Kyrgyz delegation also took part in various events, including an interactive dialogue on the topic: “Water for sustainable development: the value of water, the relationship between water, energy and food and sustainable economic and urban development”, side events: “From art to action: Turning the Desert into a Forest for the Revival of the Aral Sea Region”, “Accepting the “Water-Energy-Food-Environment” Relationship for the Water Energy Transition”.
