Japan to provide $5.3 mln grant to Kyrgyzstan for road construction in Batken

Kabar. Japan will provide 700 million yen (5.3 million US dollars) to Kyrgyzstan free of charge, the press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The funds will be directed to the construction of roads in the Batken region. The grant agreement was signed by Minister of Finance Almaz Baketaev, Ambassador of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Hideki Goda, and Permanent Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the Kyrgyz Republic Kawamoto Hiroyuki.

The support is provided to ensure the security of logistics in the Central Asian region through the construction of roads that are resilient to natural disasters in the Batken region.

The executing agency for the project is the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic.
