BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 29. The launch of a transport corridor from China through Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, extending to Turkmenistan and ultimately the Caspian Sea, is expected to significantly boost the transit, transport, and logistics potential of the region, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Daniyar Amangeldiev said during the meeting with Turkmenistan's ambassador to the country Nury Golliev, TurkicWorld reports.
Amangeldiev discussed the ongoing efforts to launch the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad construction project and addressed the prospects for cooperation in the industrial sector.
In response, the ambassador emphasized the successful cooperation between the countries in the energy and agriculture sectors, noting the positive growth in mutual trade.
The parties underscored the importance of implementing the agreements reached during the 6th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical, and humanitarian cooperation, which took place on July 24-25, 2024.
The construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad is estimated to cost approximately $8 billion. The 486-kilometer-long railroad will pass through Kashgar (China) – Torugart – Makmal – Jalalabad (Kyrgyzstan) – Andijan.
