Representatives of OTS member countries discuss diaspora issues in Bishkek

Bishkek, Nov. 23, 2023. / Kabar/. The Fifth meeting of ministers and heads of institutions for diaspora affairs of the member-states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Bishkek yesterday. The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Hungary as an observer country and the OTS Secretariat discussed issues related to the activities of the diaspora and its role in promoting the image of the state.

Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration Gulnara Baatyrova recognized the important contribution of the Kyrgyz diaspora to the development of the country.

“The role of the Kyrgyz diaspora is undeniable and is aimed at preserving the national identity, ethnic and spiritual identity of the Kyrgyz people, promoting the strengthening of economic and cultural ties with their historical homeland. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov pays great attention to the safety of migrant workers and interaction with the Kyrgyz diaspora. The republic has a Council for Relations with Compatriots, which includes representatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora from different countries.

The national initiative “Meken Kart” is designed to provide compatriots with access to education and healthcare, and help with employment. The website migrant.kg and the Migrant’s Handbook app contain the most up-to-date information on issues of safe migration and legal employment abroad,” she said.
