Bishkek, Sept. 26, 2023. /Kabar/. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev held talks with Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei at the Global Forum “Sustainable Transport: Working Together to Contribute to Global Development”, which took place in Beijing.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the relations between Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates and the possibility of expanding bilateral cooperation in the implementation of energy sector projects.
Bakyt Torobaev outlined the high dynamics of development of Kyrgyz-Emirati relations.
“The development of Kyrgyz-UAE relations is one of the priority areas of our state’s policy and is under special control of the country’s leadership. It is very important to consolidate cooperation through the implementation of joint projects, including in the energy sector,” Bakyt Torobaev said.
During the negotiations, Bakyt Torobaev also informed about the broad prospects for the implementation of projects in the country’s energy sector, focusing the Emirati side’s attention on the agreements reached with the People’s Republic of China on the supply of electrical energy.
On August 16, 2023, as part of the visit of the Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov to the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, a Memorandum of Intent was signed between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China to connect the energy infrastructure for the supply of electrical energy.
The Emirati side expressed particular interest in the noted opportunities and proposed to increase cooperation in this direction with the participation of the UAE.
The issue of accelerating the implementation of the solar power plant construction project by Masdar was also discussed. The parties agreed to strengthen work in this direction.
In conclusion, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet invited the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure to visit Kyrgyzstan. In turn, Suheil Mohammed Al-Mazrui accepted the invitation of the Kyrgyz side and outlined preliminary dates for his visit in the near future.
