Kyrgyzstan's imports of oil products from Belgium soar

Kyrgyzstan’s import of oil products from Belgium increased 14 times year-on-year, TurkicWorld reports.

As the date from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals, the country imported 1,096 tons of oil products from Belgium in January-May 2023, while in the same period of 2022 only 78 tons were imported.

The value of this export reached $3.828 million, increasing 11.8 times over $322,000 in January-May 2022.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 136,567 tons of oil products from January through May 2023, which is 50 percent less than in the same period of 2022 (273,254 tons). The value of the exports amounted to $108.280 million, decreasing 47 percent year-on-year.

The main supplier of oil products to Kyrgyzstan in the reporting period were Russia (116,488 tons), Kazakhstan (12,895 tons), Uzbekistan (1,769 tons), and Belgium (1,096 tons).

Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover almost reached $5.2 billion from January through May 2023, which is an increase of 27.9 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

Exports increased by 21.9 percent year-on-year, while import receipts rose by 29.2 percent.
