ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 11. Kazakhstan intends to increase grain exports by railroad transport,TurkicWorld reports.
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy shared the statistics of grain transportation for the last ten months.
Over the first 10 months of this year, the KTZ network handled 7.8 million tons of grain. Domestic grain transportation within Kazakhstan rose by 7 percent, reaching 1.8 million tons, while exports via rail totaled 6 million tons. Exports to Tajikistan increased by 9 percent, to Iran by 35 percent, and to Kyrgyzstan saw a 2.5-fold growth.
KTZ is prepared to transport over 1 million tons of grain per month for the remainder of the year, with all necessary resources in place. For November, KTZ expects to move 1.2 million tons of grain and 1.3 million tons in December. Grain exports are projected at over 890,000 tons in November and more than 970,000 tons in December.
The total forecast for 2024 is approximately 10.2 million tons of grain, including 7.8 million tons for export. Exports to Central Asia are expected to reach 4.7 million tons, while shipments to China will total 1.6 million tons. Domestic grain transport within Kazakhstan is projected to grow by 8 percent, reaching 2.4 million tons by the end of 2024.
Earlier, KTZ predicted that the actual volume of grain transportation for the new harvest in September and October would be around 2.2 million tons, while KTZ was ready to provide services for the transportation of grain in September and October at a volume of 4.3 million tons, of which 3.6 million tons were designated for export. The corresponding plans from the company had been pre-approved.
