IMF, Kazakhstan discuss financial and economic cooperation

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 16. Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), have discussed financial and economic cooperation, the Ministry of Economy of Kazakhstan told TurkicWorld

During the meeting, the strategic nature of Kazakhstan's relationship with the IMF was highlighted. The sides noted the positive outcomes of their collaboration, which has supported structural reforms, tax and budget policy development, and the growth of Kazakhstan’s financial markets.

Bektenov emphasized the government’s commitment, in partnership with the National Bank and the Agency for Development and Regulation of the Financial Market, to pursue policies aimed at achieving robust economic growth.

He also pointed out that Kazakhstan's sovereign rating was upgraded to Baa1 with a stable outlook by Moody’s on September 9. This rating, the highest in the country’s history, reflects ongoing improvements in institutional environments and economic diversification.

Bo Li, for his part, expressed a strong interest in continuing close and constructive cooperation with Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan has been a member of the IMF since 1992. Last year, the IMF opened a Regional Capacity Development Center in Almaty for countries in the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia.
