ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 18. We are ready to expand our contacts with representatives of Guinea-Bissau in key international organizations, primarily the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, said the President of Kazakhstan during bilateral talks in a limited format with the President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who is in Kazakhstan on an official visit, TurkicWorld reports.
President Tokayev emphasized that Guinea-Bissau is an important partner for Kazakhstan on the African continent.
"We are very interested in strengthening bilateral relations. I believe we have great prospects, considering that the governments of both countries will make every effort to find additional opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. We share similar views on current international issues, and we are ready to expand our contacts with your representatives in key international structures, primarily in the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation," Tokayev noted.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also pointed out the potential for developing ties between Kazakhstan and Guinea-Bissau in areas such as agriculture, mining, digitalization, transport, and logistics.
In turn, Umaro Sissoco Embaló expressed his gratitude to President Toakyev for the hospitality shown in Kazakhstan.
"For us, close cooperation with your country is very important. I visited here when I was Prime Minister. Earlier, students from Guinea-Bissau studied in your country, including many technical specialists. We want to continue cooperation in this field because we are confident that we can learn a lot from Kazakhstan," said Umaro Sissoco Embaló.
At the end of the talks, the two leaders exchanged views on pressing global and regional issues.
