BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. Discussions were held on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia, including the development of energy cooperation, TurkicWorld reports via a statement from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy.
According to the statement, a delegation headed by Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Economy Anar Akhundov met with Dubravka Dedović Handanović, Serbia's Minister of Mining and Energy, in Belgrade as part of a visit to Serbia.
"The meeting was also attended by representatives of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and relevant Serbian state companies. During the meeting, it was noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in ensuring the energy security of Europe, including Serbia. Economic ties between the two countries are expanding based on the principles of mutual respect and reliable partnership. The energy sector is a key factor in strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
The sides discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation, including the possibility of jointly constructing a gas power plant near the Serbian city of Niš," the statement reads.
