BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. The bill on the approval of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation in the Gas Sector between Turkey and Azerbaijan has been included in the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, TurkicWorld reports.
The consideration of the bill in parliament was approved by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus.
The intergovernmental agreement on cooperation between the two countries in the gas sector was signed on May 14, 2024 in Istanbul with the aim of deepening energy cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
The bill was considered on January 16 by the Foreign Relations Committee of the Turkish Parliament, chaired by Fuat Oktay, and a corresponding report was prepared.
The committee's report highlights the implementation of a number of successful energy projects between Turkey and Azerbaijan, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
The agreement also provides for cooperation between Baku and Ankara on joint investment projects in the energy sector.
