BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. Azerbaijan and China Energy International Group will create a working group, Azerbaijan’s energy minister Parviz Shahbazov wrote on X, TurkicWorldreports.
"We had a fruitful meeting in Beijing with Lin Xiadon, Vice President of China Energy International Group Co., Ltd. During the meeting, we discussed accelerating the implementation of 160 MW power plants, the company's involvement in offshore wind energy projects and green energy corridors, the local production of renewable energy installations, as well as cooperation in establishing a joint research and development center. We agreed to establish a working group and considered the proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding reflecting our new cooperation priorities," he wrote.
Azerbaijan is engaged in a number of negotiations with Chinese companies in the field of renewable energy. Azerbaijan is exploring opportunities for cooperation with China in renewable energy, energy-saving systems, grid enhancement, the export of green energy, offshore wind energy, and the supply of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables, with extensive discussions on studying the latest practices.
Chinese companies have expressed interest in joining large-scale activities to realize the vast potential of renewable energy in Azerbaijan. They're currently sizing up the investment opportunities for building renewable energy plants in the region.
