Iran United States Masoud Pezeshkian dialogue Iran-US relations

Pezeshkian says Iran will continue seeking dialogue with the US

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran will continue to pursue dialogue with the United States despite what he described as attacks on Iran during previous negotiations.

Speaking at a meeting with entrepreneurs, Pezeshkian said Iran had “never avoided” dialogue with Washington and would continue efforts to resolve outstanding issues.

According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, the president said the Iranian government was seriously working to address challenges and problems affecting the country’s business sector.

“We have never avoided dialogue and will not do so, although the United States targeted our country three times,” Pezeshkian said.

He also said there was coordination among Iran’s senior state officials and that efforts were being made to address existing problems and shortcomings.

Pezeshkian further said Iran was seeking to expand its import and export routes by land amid what he described as restrictions at sea. He identified Pakistan, Iraq, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan as countries through which Iran is seeking to develop additional land-based trade routes.

The comments come amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington and efforts to maintain diplomatic channels over regional and economic issues.
