BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In a statement posted on his Telegram channel, Araghchi criticised what he described as France’s “interventionist” positions towards Iran and called on the French embassy to comply with Iran’s national laws and regulations.
Araghchi also described France’s position on regional developments as “unacceptable”, particularly its stance regarding US and Israeli military actions against Iran.
Referring to what he called France’s “double standards” on human rights, Araghchi said Paris could not claim to be concerned about human rights while remaining silent over what he described as “crimes against humanity” committed by the United States and Israel against the Iranian people.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron told US media that France did not want to enter into confrontation with any country, but was ready to become more involved in efforts related to the Strait of Hormuz.
