BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 21. Tehran is hosting a Pakistani delegation led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a visit considered significant amid Islamabad’s role in facilitating communications between Iran and the United States.
Pakistan’s Interior Ministry said Naqvi was welcomed by his Iranian counterpart and that discussions were underway.
Iranian officials have said that mediated communications between Tehran and Washington, with assistance from Qatar and Pakistan, are continuing. Against this backdrop, Naqvi’s visit is being viewed as an important diplomatic engagement.
Iran faces a choice between pursuing further diplomatic engagement and maintaining a military posture, amid statements from Tehran about its readiness for a “decisive war.”
The situation remains highly complex, and Naqvi’s visit could contribute to efforts to ease some of the difficulties between Iran and the United States in the current environment.
