BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10. Libya and Italy have discussed ways to strengthen military and defence cooperation, with particular focus on training, professional development and the exchange of expertise.
Libya’s Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, held talks with his Italian counterpart, Lieutenant General Luciano Portolano, in Tripoli.
The two military officials discussed training programmes, capacity-building and the exchange of experience, according to Libya’s General Staff.
They also reviewed progress achieved in bilateral military cooperation and stressed the importance of building on existing results and expanding areas of partnership.
Following the meeting, al-Namroush and Portolano met with Libya’s Defence Ministry Undersecretary, Lieutenant General Abdulsalam al-Zoubi.
The discussions covered issues of mutual interest, including further strengthening cooperation in the military and defence sectors.
