BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has held telephone calls with governors of northern provinces affected by severe flooding.
Pezeshkian stressed the need for full coordination among executive, relief and service agencies to manage the situation and respond to the flooding.
The president also emphasised the importance of authorities being present on the ground in affected areas to oversee relief efforts and address urgent needs.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that torrential rainfall had transformed parts of northern Iran, publishing footage showing flooded streets and what appeared to be an overflowing river.
Central and eastern areas of Mazandaran province were reportedly among the worst-affected areas.
The authorities are continuing to assess the situation and coordinate emergency response efforts in the affected provinces.
