BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. bp, on behalf of its partners in Azerbaijan’s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz projects, has launched a social investment initiative to support the development of local specialists in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The initiative is being implemented with the participation of bp’s project partners — SOCAR, TPAO, LUKOIL, SGC, NICO, MOL, INPEX, ExxonMobil, MVM and ONGC Videsh — and is aimed at strengthening local knowledge, skills and long-term professional capacity in Azerbaijan.
The project will train highly qualified local specialists who will be able to independently deliver training programmes in renewable energy and energy efficiency in line with high professional and educational standards.
As part of the initiative, 20 local specialists have been selected to participate in a “Train the Trainer” programme delivered by the internationally recognised Renewable Energy Academy, based in Berlin.
The programme will consist of approximately 50 hours of self-paced online learning, followed by eight half-day virtual sessions. It will combine technical knowledge with modern teaching methods, enabling participants to strengthen both their professional expertise and training skills.
Participants will learn how to design, deliver and evaluate training courses independently and effectively, while drawing on international best practices and adapting training approaches to local needs. Those who successfully complete the programme will receive “Train the Trainer” certificates.
The initiative is expected to create a sustainable foundation for strengthening national capacity in renewable energy and energy efficiency by enabling local specialists to share their knowledge and experience with others.
bp said strengthening local capacity and supporting skills development remain among the priorities of its social investment activities in Azerbaijan. As the country advances its energy transition goals, the need for qualified local professionals capable of expanding and transferring knowledge in renewable energy and energy efficiency is expected to grow.
