BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 31.Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that some people in the United States are interested in the “continuation of the war”, according to Iran’s Fars news agency.
Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
The Iranian president said Tehran has never sought war, but claimed that the United States has failed to fulfil commitments it had undertaken.
“ Iran never welcomes war,” Pezeshkian said, while accusing Washington of contributing to the continuation of the current confrontation.
The report did not specify which US commitments Pezeshkian was referring to.
During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed maritime cooperation related to the Strait of Hormuz.
They reviewed the progress of Iran-India cooperation at the Chabahar port, located in southeastern Iran.
India has invested at least $120 million in one of the cargo terminals at Chabahar port. A US sanctions waiver granted for the project expired on Sunday.
