Ghalibaf stresses need to de-escalate regional tensions in meeting with Qatar’s prime minister

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. Iranian Parliament Speaker and top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has emphasised the need to reduce regional tensions during a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Tehran.

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the two officials discussed the latest developments in the region and exchanged views on measures aimed at preventing further escalation.

The talks also focused on efforts to create appropriate conditions for the resumption of dialogue amid continuing regional tensions.

Ghalibaf stressed the importance of de-escalation and diplomatic engagement as regional actors seek ways to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

Qatar has played a mediation role in regional disputes and has repeatedly called for diplomatic solutions and dialogue to resolve ongoing crises.

The meeting in Tehran comes amid intensified diplomatic contacts involving Iran and Qatar, including discussions on regional security and efforts to restore stability.

The talks highlight Doha’s continuing diplomatic engagement with Tehran and Iran’s stated interest in creating conditions for renewed dialogue.
