BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 24. Iran’s missile capabilities remain operational and the country continues to produce missiles, according to Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi.
Iran’s Tasnim news agency quoted Mohebbi as saying that Tehran’s missile capability remains active and that production is continuing despite military and economic pressure on the country.
“Today, America has changed the front and gone to economic warfare, because in the military arena, what Iran has at its disposal is clearly visible,” Mohebbi said.
The IRGC spokesman portrayed Washington’s growing focus on economic pressure as a consequence of Iran’s military capabilities.
His comments suggest that Tehran intends to maintain missile production as a central component of its defence strategy despite continuing tensions with the United States.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed the importance of the country’s missile programme to its defence and deterrence capabilities.
Mohebbi did not provide figures on current missile production levels, specific missile systems being manufactured or changes in Iran’s overall stockpile.
The statement comes as Iranian officials increasingly emphasise the resilience of the country’s military industry while accusing Washington of shifting towards economic measures to pressure Tehran.
