BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10. Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has decreased significantly over the weekend, according to vessel-tracking platform MaritimeTraffic.
The tracker reported that the number of vessel crossings fell from 15 on Friday to 11 on Saturday and six on Sunday.
Data showed that 17 vessels passed through the route classified as the Iranian Unilateral Scheme, while another 10 vessels used a route listed as “undetermined”.
The slowdown comes amid continued uncertainty over navigation arrangements in the strategic waterway, which is one of the world’s most important routes for energy shipments.
By comparison, traffic through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, connecting the Red Sea with the Indian Ocean, remained significantly higher, with 116 crossings recorded during the same period.
