BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. Iran’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ali Nikzad has said the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war conditions, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
Addressing the Islamic Consultative Assembly on regional developments, Nikzad said Iran had attempted to make clear that the strategic waterway would not operate as it did before the conflict.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran tried to inform the aggressor and deluded enemy that the Strait of Hormuz is not going to return to the pre-war conditions during the days of the war,” Nikzad said.
He claimed that the United States and Israel had realised that reopening the strait could not be achieved through military means and would require acceptance of what he described as a “new order” in the region.
Nikzad added that Iran’s main priority at the current stage is addressing the country’s economic challenges.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes, carrying a significant share of global energy shipments.
