BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3. U.S. President Donald Trump has again called on American oil companies to lower retail fuel prices, while criticizing Chevron Chief Executive Mike Wirth.
In a post on social media, Trump argued that the U.S. oil industry had benefited from his administration's policies.
“The only thing he conveniently forgot to mention is that, without the genius, foresight, strength, and stability, of the TRUMP Administration, the Oil Industry, and our Country itself, would be DEAD!”
He concluded his message by urging energy companies to lower prices for consumers.
“Get your consumer (retail!) Oil Prices DOWN, NOW!”
Trump's comments came after global oil prices declined on Monday, following his decision not to authorize a new military strike on Iran over the weekend, raising market expectations of a possible diplomatic agreement.
However, Iranian officials said no negotiations are currently underway and none are scheduled.
