BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3. U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran's options are limited to reaching a nuclear agreement or accepting what he described as “total surrender”, while accusing Tehran of sending mixed signals over negotiations.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized the Iranian leadership for publicly denying direct talks with the United States while, according to him, continuing contacts through Oman.
“Iranian Leadership is unbelievably duplicitous!... They’re only dealing with ‘Oman’,” Trump wrote.
The U.S. president also asserted that the Strait of Hormuz is effectively under the control of the U.S. Navy, claiming that no goods would reach Iran unless Washington allowed it.
Trump concluded by reiterating his longstanding position that Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon, adding that the dispute could only end through “a Deal, or Total Surrender.”
Iran has repeatedly maintained that its nuclear programme is intended for peaceful purposes and has not responded to Trump's latest remarks.
