BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1. The U.S. Department of State has renewed its travel advisory for the Middle East, warning American citizens about the potential for further escalation in the region.
In a statement posted on X, the department advised:
“Americans in the region should consider departing, or be prepared to depart should there be escalation.”
The State Department also urged U.S. citizens outside the Middle East to seriously reconsider travel to or through the region.
According to the advisory, Iran and groups aligned with Iran could target U.S. interests overseas or locations associated with the United States and American citizens around the world.
The updated warning follows a similar advisory issued last week after President Donald Trump warned of possible military strikes against Iran. Those strikes were ultimately not carried out.
The State Department encouraged Americans to closely monitor official travel guidance and remain alert to developments in the region.
