BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 21. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed concern over rising tensions in the Gulf region during a meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, calling on all sides to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further escalate the situation.
According to a statement from the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif voiced his “deep concern” over the recent escalation in the Gulf and urged all parties to refrain from steps that could undermine regional stability.
Sharif said Pakistan would continue playing its role as a reliable and sincere mediator, reaffirming Islamabad’s strong commitment to regional peace and stability.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni thanked the Pakistani prime minister and his team for their mediation efforts.
Momeni said the visit of the high-level Iranian delegation to Pakistan was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations. He also praised Pakistan’s previous mediation efforts and its role in advancing the memorandum reached through those initiatives.
