Iran says US actions threaten global oil and gas supplies

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13, Iran’s military has accused the United States of “seriously jeopardising” global energy security by interfering in navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil and gas transit routes.

Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Tehran continues to maintain its authority and control over the strategic waterway.

“Regrettably, the cooperation of certain countries in the region has also increased the risk of the conflict spreading throughout the region,” Zolfaghari said, warning that regional involvement could further escalate tensions.

Iran’s statement comes amid growing disputes with Washington over maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The waterway, located between Iran and Oman, is a key route for global energy shipments, and any disruption could significantly affect oil and gas markets, international trade, and energy prices.
