BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10, Russia’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations has accused the United Kingdom, France and Germany of “cheer-leading” US and Israeli strikes against Iran during an emergency session of the UN Security Council.
Anna Evstigneeva criticised what she described as the “hypocrisy of Western states”, accusing them of targeting Iran while ignoring actions carried out by the United States and Israel.
“We are compelled to express our disappointment that once again a majority of UNSC members are continuing to indulge the attempts of some states to cast doubt on objective, procedural realities,” Evstigneeva said.
The Russian diplomat’s remarks came during a heated UNSC session focused on the escalating tensions surrounding Iran and the wider regional security situation.
