BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6. Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has taken part in the funeral procession for Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Ahmadinejad, a former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a leading conservative figure in Iranian politics, was widely regarded as a loyal supporter of Khamenei throughout his political career.
During his student years, Ahmadinejad joined an ultraconservative faction of the Office for Strengthening Unity, a radical student movement established following the 1979 Islamic Revolution. His participation in the funeral underscores his long-standing ties to Iran's conservative political establishment.
