BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. India will send a high-level delegation to Iran to attend the funeral ceremonies of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
According to a statement from India's Ministry of External Affairs, Minister of State for External Affairs Shri Pabitra Margherita and Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain will represent the country at the funeral in Tehran on Friday.
The ministry said the high-level participation reflects the importance of the long-standing civilizational ties and people-to-people connections between India and Iran, which continue to serve as a strong foundation for bilateral political and economic cooperation.
Funeral ceremonies and processions for Ali Khamenei are scheduled to begin in Tehran on Saturday and conclude on July 9 with his burial in his hometown of Mashhad.
