BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly condemned comments by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz regarding Iran's Supreme Leader, warning that any threat against Iran's leadership would be met with a firm response.
In a statement, Araghchi said the terms of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) are "crystal clear" and publicly available.
He also claimed that US President Donald Trump had committed Washington to restraining Israel's actions, adding that Tehran would respond if those commitments were not respected.
Araghchi's remarks came after Israeli media quoted Defence Minister Israel Katz as saying that Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was "marked for death."
Katz also accused Iran of seeking concessions during negotiations and reiterated that Israel would not allow Tehran to develop nuclear weapons.
Responding to those comments, Araghchi said any threat against Iran's people or leadership would receive an "immediate powerful response."
