BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has congratulated the country's national football team on its performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a message quoted by Tasnim News Agency, Ghalibaf praised the players for representing Iran on the international stage.
"You defended the name of Iran in the great field of the World Cup, sang the national anthem of our country to the ears of the world, and displayed the proud flag of Iran," he said.
Ghalibaf added that the team competed under what he described as "all-round pressures" and demonstrated Iran's determination, solidarity and national spirit.
Iranian officials have previously claimed that the national team faced "the most politicised" treatment during the tournament, citing visa and accommodation difficulties in the United States.
