Trump announces Iran talks in Doha after Tehran previously denied plans

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. US President Donald Trump has announced that a meeting with Iranian officials will take place in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday, following a request from Tehran.

TurkicWorld reports that Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, in all caps: “IRAN HAS REQUESTED A MEETING. IT WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW IN DOHA.”

The announcement comes after Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi had stated earlier that no meetings with US “technical teams” were scheduled in Qatar this week.

The talks are expected to focus on ongoing diplomatic and technical discussions between the two countries amid heightened regional tensions.
