China calls for ‘pragmatic negotiations’ between US and Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18. China has welcomed the interim agreement between the United States and Iran and called on both sides to continue upcoming negotiations in a rational and practical manner.

TurkicWorld reports that Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing supports the signing of the interim US-Iran agreement and hopes both countries will approach further talks “rationally and pragmatically.”

He also stressed the importance of both sides fully implementing their commitments under the agreement, as international attention remains focused on the next phase of negotiations.

The comments come as Iran and China continue to deepen diplomatic and economic engagement. On Wednesday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf emphasized the strategic importance of relations with China, highlighting cooperation in addressing Iran’s economic challenges.

Ghalibaf described China as a uniquely important partner for Iran, stating that the relationship goes beyond trade and should be understood as a comprehensive strategic partnership across multiple sectors.

China’s remarks reflect its broader position of supporting dialogue and stability in the Middle East while encouraging sustained diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington.
