Iran says Lebanese sovereignty included in interim agreement with US

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. Iran has stated that respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity forms part of the interim agreement reached with the United States, highlighting Beirut’s importance within the broader diplomatic framework.

TurkicWorld reports that speaking to reporters, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Lebanon remains a key component of the memorandum of understanding and that Tehran will closely monitor developments in the country.

According to Baghaei, provisions related to Lebanon were included in the agreement as part of efforts to address regional security concerns and support stability. He stressed that respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is among the principles reflected in the understanding reached between Tehran and Washington.

The Iranian official also extended condolences to the Lebanese people following recent developments in the country. He stated that Iran’s decisions are influenced by events affecting regional security and by attacks that Tehran attributes to Israel.

Baghaei’s remarks underscore the growing attention being paid to Lebanon within the wider diplomatic process surrounding the Iran-US agreement, as regional actors continue to assess the potential implications of the deal for security and stability across the Middle East.
