BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. Lebanese MP Najat Aoun Saliba claims that Hezbollah is acting against the wishes of the Lebanese government and people under direct Iranian instructions, calling Tehran’s intervention “a threat to Lebanese sovereignty.”
TurkicWorld reports that Saliba stated Iran influenced Hezbollah’s position even before the group had expressed its own views, effectively imposing decisions on the organization. She emphasized that the Lebanese government advocates for direct negotiations led by Lebanon to ensure the least damaging and costly outcome.
Saliba accused Hezbollah, acting as Iran’s proxy, of transferring the US-Iran conflict onto Lebanese soil, contrary to government and public will. She underlined the need for restoring the Lebanese army’s primacy and holding Hezbollah accountable under the law.
