BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Iranian media reported that negotiations surrounding a potential agreement with Washington include a demand from Tehran for the release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets.
TurkicWorld reports that according to reports from Tasnim News Agency, a source close to the Iranian negotiating team stated that Iran wants half of the amount — $12 billion — to be released upon the signing of a memorandum of understanding, while the remaining funds would be transferred within 60 days.
The report also stated that Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf travelled to Qatar to discuss and reach an agreement on a mechanism for implementing the proposed arrangement.
