BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 30. On December 19, Sudanese people, living in Sudan and abroad, commemorated the 7th anniversary of the December 2018 revolution. The revolution began as a protest against deteriorating economic and political conditions, and represented the Sudanese people’s resilience and determination to achieve the revolution’s goals, TurkicWorld reports.
Following almost 3 years of tragic civil war and 5 years since the civilian transitional government was overthrown, Sudanese aspirations are focused on immediately ending the war, and building a democratic civilian state, free from extremism, terrorism and the devastating policies of previous regimes.
The UAE reaffirms its unwavering position which calls for:
1. An immediate and unconditional ceasefire
2. Ensuring the urgent, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
3. A civilian-led independent political transition, not controlled by either warring party, to fulfil the aspirations of the Sudanese people toward security, stability and peace.
4. The UAE’s commitment to working alongside the Quad, led by the US, which places the interests of the people of Sudan as paramount.
It should be noted that The African Union does not recognize the legitimacy of the Port Sudan Authority. The PSA’s recent pattern of deflection and propaganda raises concerns about potential attempts by certain extremist actors and networks to influence key national institutions.
It is also recommended to go to the link, which is the joint investigation report by CNN and Lighthouse Reports, uncovering documented evidence of an ethnically-fueled campaign targeting civilians, carried out by PSA across Sudan’s Al Jazira state.
The UAE’s efforts have always been humanitarian first (during 2015-2025, the UAE provided USD 4.24 bln in aid to the Republic of Sudan, and during 2023-2025, the UAE contributed USD 784 mln in humanitarian assistance, making the UAE the second largest donor to Sudan, after the US, since the conflict started).
The UAE continues to strongly condemn the actions of both warring parties – PSA and the Rapid Support Forces- against the people of Sudan during this devastating civil war.
The UAE underscores the importance of a unified regional and international effort to end the violence and atrocities committed against civilians.
