Kyrgyz Parliament, UK discuss co-op issues in various spheres

Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh Sultanbai Aizhigitov, Vinera Raimbachayeva, Ernis Aidaraliev headed by leader of the parliamentary faction Yiman Nuru Dinara Ashimova met with Ambassador of Great Britain to Kyrgyzstan Nicholas Bowler.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues in the spheres of development of inter-parliamentary, political-economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries, the Kyrgyz Parliament’s press service said.

Leader of the Yiman Nuru faction Dinara Ashimova stressed that Kyrgyzstan is interested in developing cooperation in such priority areas as climate change, promoting green economy, and attracting foreign investment. She added that expert support is needed to implement specific projects in these areas.

MP Sultanbai Aizhigitov inquired about the role of strategic planning in the UK public administration. Deputy Vinera Raimbachayeva drew attention to the issues of expanding cooperation in the areas of disaster prevention, climate change mitigation and development of inclusive health care.

Ambassador Nicholas Bowler noted that he would take into account the issues identified during the meeting, as well as spoke about the current state of bilateral relations and the projects being implemented. He informed that a program on work with the Parliament had been recently approved, within the framework of which expert and advisory support was envisaged.
